Moccasin Powerhouse Bypass Needs Assessment

The Moccasin Powerhouse (MPH) utilizes an elevation drop of over 1,000’ to produce approximately  25% of Hetch Hetchy Power annually. The Powerhouse houses two turbines and generators each installed over 50 years ago, as well as existing bypasses that when used for extended periods of time have failed.  JHCE served in a lead role for the Needs Assessment Phase, and produced a report which identified feasible alternatives to bypass the powerhouse, ensuring that during an outage water delivery is not interrupted.
